University provides the facility of Central Library in its premises at Paliwal Campus and individual libraries in each department. | | 1. ACQUISITION SECTION : In order to acquire all sorts of reading and research materials, there is an Acquisition Section which acquires and collects them for the use of the readers. In order to provide these reading materials, the acquisition section after accessioning the reading materials sends them to the Technical Section for processing so that books and other reading materials could be used in their respective sections. At present there are 1,67,800 books in the collection of the Central Library including back volumes of journals and Doctoral dissertations.2. CIRCULATION SECTION : This section provides reading meterial to students for home.Users can borrow and return books through this section .At present there are 1,40,000 books approx in the central library which are kept in four story stack.for issue and returns of books this library follow Newark system.
3. TECHNICAL SECTION : There is a Technical Section for processing of all reading and research materials acquired, where they are classified and catalogued before they are sent to respective sections to be used by the readers.4. PERIODICAL SECTION : There is a well-equipped section of Periodical Literature for meeting the information needs of research scholars and the students. In this Section all the current periodicals are displayed properly for the use of the readers and their back and bound volumes are maintained in systematic order. Under INFONET program of UGC, 4500 e-journal with full text/abstract form of Electronic journal of seven well-known publisher like SpringierLink, Economic & political Weekly, IOP, oxford university press, Taylor & Francis , ISID, JCCC available for the users of this library besides this receiving 150 journals in gift of different disciplines.5. RESEARCH AND REFERENCE SECTION : In this section, doctoral dissertations approved by this University, are maintained properly, and available for consultation to the research scholars / teachers of affiliated Colleges and research scholars of other Universities also. This section also maintains other reference materials required for research purpose.6. REPROGRAPHIC SECTION : To provide Reprographic services, there is a Photocopier section, which has a advanced photocopying machine for providing Photostat copies of the document at very nominal charges.7. Computer Section INFLIBNET & COMPUTERIZATION : The central lirary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra, possesses Library automation Software ‘SOUL’ from INFLIBNET, running smoothly & efficiently for last 15 years. In order to augment The Library resources under the programme of INFLIBNET : Project of UGC computerization of the whole collection of books, journals and doctoral dissertations is being done and a database of 1,52,000 approx. documents have been built up which has already been sent to INFLIBNET Centre of UGC so that data could be included in the total databases of all the University Libraries of the Country. Out of which approx. 88,000 unique titles of books and 3675 doctoral dissertations have already been included in union database of INFLIBNET. Library is providing OPAC facilities since 2000.8. NME-ICT Program on behest of knowledge commission (Govt. of India) is running smoothly since 2011. University intends to start virtual classes, online data searching for research students and faculty members, e-journals, e-book & internet facilities SERVICES ARRANGED AND PROVIDED In order to meet the various types of information needs and queries by the users of the Library, the following types of services are regularly arranged and provided so that readers could be assisted personally. 1. REFERENCE AND DOCUMENTATION SERVICES: The Library arranges and provides personal assistance and guidance to the readers on demand. In this service Bibliographical services(OPAC), Inter-Library services etc. are arranged when readers demand books on Loan. 2. REPROGRAPHIC SERVICE: Readers are provided Photostat copies of published documents on very nominal charges and there is a separate section for it. 3. AUDIO-VISUAL FACILITIES: Besides print material, there is separate collection of non-print materials in which audio cassettes, 2 VCR and 2 Colour TV are available. Microfilm reader and microfiche readers are also available for using microfilm and microfiche. 4. RARE MANUSCRIPT: The University is privileged to have a large collection of rare manuscript related to literature, history, astronomy, astrology, religion and philosophy. The collection also contains old coins, old picture and map of Agra at the time of Shah Jahan and other items of immense historical value at K.M. Hindi Institute library. University is making every possible effort for the careful preservation of this treasure. KM Institute is actively engaged in preservation and study of these manuscripts. 5. PUBLIC LIBRARY FACILITIES : The Central Library of University provides services to all the Institute and Affiliated Colleges. But now it has extended the library facilities to every individual of the society who want to make use of the library. This facility has been extended from 1998 and anybody can become a regular member of this library. 6. Special collections from donors: : . Bag chi Collection . Brij Collection . Mahajan Collection . Srivastava Collection . Commission Revenue Record since late Mughal period. 7. For upgradation of central library in future book scanner, OCR (Optical Character Recognition), Software for digitization, bar coding facilities & implementation of RFID technology will be the priorities. 8. Implementation of SHODH GANGA Project of Inflibnet from the current session to stop duplication of research work will be speeded.
9. RUSA provide a grant of 30 lakhs for generation of e-resource & Rs. 30 Lakhs for renovation of library building.9. DEPARTMENTAL LIBRARY : Besides the Central Library there are many departmental/ Institute libraries, which are well equipped with latest books and journals and have separate budget allocation.Contact Persons: 1.
