About Department

The Department of Library Science & Manuscriptology was established in the year 1984 with the Degree Bachelor of Library Science & Manuscriptology under the Directorship of Pt. Vidyanivas Mishra (a renowned scholar of Hindi). In the year 1996 Master of Library & Information Science Course was introduced. Due to application of computer and information technology in libraries the name of the Department changed from Library Science & Manuscriptology to Library and Information Science. In the year 1998 Ph.D. Programme has also been launched. Department has its own building near central library at Paliwa Prak Campus. The Seniors Professional like Prof. Mohd. Sabir Hussain, Prof. S.M. Tripathi, Prof. M.T.M. Khan, Prof. Pandey Sharma S.K., Dr. C.K. Sharma have been associated with the department. Now the department is under headship of Prof. U.C. Sharma Head and Dean (Arts).
